EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PHYLLITE
Would you like to know more about phyllite and its various uses? Discover our answers to frequently asked questions about this natural stone, its appearance, its finishes and its applications. Paving, cladding, crazy paving (opus incertum) or edging: find our advice on choosing the right product for your project.
The phyllite is a natural metamorphic rock, recognisable by its layered
appearance and its mineral shades. It belongs to the family of rocks transformed by metamorphism and offers a particularly interesting result for landscaping projects. Its appearance can recall that of slate, with a surface showing natural variations and shades of grey.
At Minéral, the phyllite stone is offered in different forms to meet several uses. You will find in particular phyllite paving, cladding, crazy paving (opus incertum), edgings, skirting boards and elements for stairs.
This natural rock thus makes it possible to work on both floors and walls. Its mineral look and its variations in shade make it possible to create a landscaping scheme with real visual presence, indoors and outdoors.
Both phyllite and slate are rocks that can present a layered appearance and similar mineral nuances. However, they are not exactly the same material. Phyllite is a metamorphic rock with a particular texture and appearance, whereas slate is another family of rock used notably for roofing and landscaping.
Visually, a phyllite stone can therefore recall slate through its dark, grey, naturally structured appearance. This look makes it easy to integrate into contemporary projects as well as more traditional ones.
In our collection, you can notably find the sawn PHYLITE
paving, the sandblasted PHYLLITE paving as well as the PHYLITE cladding. These different finishes let you choose the desired look depending on the use: floor, wall or outdoor landscaping.
The phyllite is thus an interesting alternative when looking for a natural stone with a mineral and authentic look.
The phyllite can be used for various fit-out projects, both indoors and outdoors. At Minéral, several products make it possible to work with this natural rock according to the needs of the project.
For outdoor floors, the phyllite paving can be used to create a terrace, a circulation area or a landscaped area in the garden. Two looks are notably offered: the sandblasted PHYLLITE paving and the sawn PHYLITE paving
The stone can also clad walls thanks to the PHYLLITE cladding or the PHYLLITE incertum cladding. Opus incertum, for its part, gives a more
irregular and natural look, with varied shapes that make it possible to create an
authentic decor.
To complete a project, the collection also includes phyllite edgings, phyllite skirting boards and elements for steps and risers. This diversity makes it possible to use the same stone for different elements of a fit-out.
Yes, our collection includes several solutions for outdoor paving in phyllite.
This natural stone makes it possible to create a floor with a strong mineral look, particularly suited to terraces, gardens and other outdoor spaces.
The choice between the different finishes depends mainly on the desired look. The sawn PHYLLITE paving has a more regular appearance, while the sandblasted PHYLLITE paving offers a different surface look. These two products thus make it possible to adapt the look of the stone to the style of the landscaping.
The phyllite can also be combined with other elements of the collection. A phyllite border can accompany a terrace or structure a landscaped space, while steps can be used to create a staircase.
For projects seeking a natural aesthetic, the combination of stone, vegetation and outdoor furniture highlights the nuances of the rock. The phyllite thus easily finds its place in various outdoor landscaping projects.
Our phyllite collection includes several products intended for different uses. For floors, you will find in particular the PHYLLITE
sandblasted paving and the PHYLITE sawn paving, with two different surface finishes.
For walls, the PHYLITE cladding makes it possible to create a covering with mineral nuances, while the PHYLITE incertum cladding offers a more irregular look. The PHYLITE crazy paving (opus incertum) can also be used to create a
landscaping scheme with varied stone shapes. The collection also includes
a PHYLITE edging, a PHYLITE skirting as well as products for stairs, notably the PHYLITE Black slate stair tread and riser.
This range therefore lets you find the same natural rock in several applications. Depending on your project, you can combine paving, cladding, edging or stair elements to create a coherent whole.
The choice of look depends mainly on the style you want and on the use of the phyllite. This natural stone already has a strong visual character thanks to its shades and its mineral look. The different finishes nevertheless make it possible to change the final result of the project.
For a floor, the sawn PHYLITE paving brings a more structured and regular look. The sandblasted PHYLLITE paving allows a different expression of the natural surface of the stone to be preserved.
For walls, the PHYLITE cladding offers a solution suited to a more regular composition, while the PHYLITE crazy paving (opus incertum) plays more on the irregular shapes of the pieces of rock. The latter may suit a project looking for a more authentic appearance.
The grey and dark shades of phyllite can also be combined with materials such as wood, metal or vegetation. It can thus find its
place in a contemporary outdoor landscaping as well as in a more natural environment.
