A natural stone paver is a paving element specially designed for outdoor floors, used to create durable and attractive surfaces such as gardens, terraces, paths or even patios. These pavers, cut from natural stones such as sandstone, limestone, granite, travertine, gneiss or even marble, stand out for their robustness, weather resistance and longevity.

At Minéral, our stock consists of a wide range of natural stone pavers, available in various formats and thicknesses to suit every project, whether residential or professional. You can thus select square, rectangular pavers or even a mix of formats to compose elegant patterns such as crazy paving (opus incertum) or checkerboard paving.

Natural stone pavers also come in several finishes: aged, cleft, or polished, with a wide variety of shades ranging from soft beige to deep black, including grey or warmer tones such as kandla. This diversity allows you to harmonize your outdoor landscaping with the architectural style and the surrounding landscape.

Their mechanical strength makes them suitable for both pedestrian surfaces and driveable areas, easily supporting the passage of light vehicles. You can browse online or directly in store our references, check the availability of products, and benefit from personalized advice to find the natural stone paver perfectly suited to your outdoor landscaping.

The choice of natural stone is decisive for the success of your landscaping project. It is based on technical, aesthetic and practical criteria. Among the most common stones for pavers, granite and gneiss stand out for their very high mechanical strength. They are particularly recommended for driveways or heavily used surfaces, thanks to their excellent durability and wear resistance.

For a more natural and warm atmosphere in your garden or on your terrace, stones such as limestone or travertine are ideal. Their beige, sand or slightly shaded tones bring a soft and elegant look, much appreciated in outdoor landscaping. Sandstone, for its part, is a good compromise between aesthetics and robustness, with a wide range of colours and finishes, allowing you to personalise your floors to suit your wishes.

The stone finish also plays an important role in the final result. A cleft or aged paver will offer an antique and authentic look, ideal for rustic or traditional styles, whereas a polished stone or one with sawn edges will give a more contemporary and uniform result.

Our in-store advisers will help you select the natural stone best suited to your use (pedestrian or vehicular), the nature of the ground and the environmental constraints, taking into account the stock availability for an optimal delivery time. Find our guide on how to choose your pavers.

The variety of formats and thicknesses available for natural stone pavers makes it possible to adapt to all outdoor landscaping configurations. Pavers are available in standard formats ranging from 5x5 cm to 20x20 cm, but it is also possible to select custom sizes to suit your project. To create original patterns, you can opt for a mix of pavers in varied dimensions, particularly for compositions in crazy paving (opus incertum) or chequerboard paving.

As for thickness, it is generally between 4 and 8 cm. This thickness must be chosen according to the intended use: a thickness of 4 to 6 cm is suitable for pedestrian surfaces such as terraces or garden paths, whereas a greater thickness, up to 8 cm or more, is recommended for vehicle-accessible areas or industrial areas.

The correct layout of the pavers, combined with the quality of the bedding sand, is also crucial to ensure the stability and durability of the ground. A good choice of accessories such as borders or pool copings can also help secure and enhance the whole landscaping scheme.

The laying of natural stone pavers requires careful preparation of the base to guarantee the longevity of your installation. Start by excavating the soil down to approximately 20 cm in depth, making sure to provide a 2% slope to ensure good water drainage.

Once the ground is prepared, install a base layer, or sub-base, made of materials such as sand-gravel or all-in aggregate, suited to the nature of the ground. This layer must be carefully compacted using a roller or a vibrating plate. To prevent the growth of weeds, it is recommended to lay a geotextile before spreading the bedding layer.

The bedding layer is made with crushed sand, with an average thickness of 5 cm, which will serve as the base for the pavers. During installation, make sure to maintain a regular layout of the pavers, with suitable spacing between each piece to make it easier to fill the joints with fine sand or a specific mortar.

Finally, the quality of the materials, the right reference of the selected pavers, as well as the know-how during installation, are guarantees of a durable, stable and aesthetically successful surface.

The price of a natural stone paver depends on several factors. The type of stone (sandstone, limestone, granite, travertine, gneiss) directly influences the price, as does the chosen finish: cleft, aged or polished pavers will have varying costs. The dimensions and thickness of the paver also play a role: large pieces or those intended for driveable use will be more expensive than small decorative formats.

On average, the price ranges between 40 and 150 euros per square meter. To properly estimate the quantity of pavers needed, simply calculate the surface to cover and divide it by the surface of one paver (for example, a 15x15 cm paver covers approximately 0.0225 m²). This gives you a precise measurement and lets you estimate the overall budget.
