Travertine pool deck and copings in Haguenau

The project

In Haguenau, a pool from the early 2000s had cracked concrete copings. The owners wanted a light stone, pleasant under bare feet, to give the garden a holiday feel.

The choices

They chose Travertine Mix copings and matching paving for the deck. As the pool has rounded corners, the corner pieces were made to measure in our workshop.

Travertine is a warm-toned limestone, pleasant under bare feet, that gives a Mediterranean feel to a pool surround or terrace. Its natural pores, in tumbled finishes, provide a good grip. In regions with cold winters, choose a grade and thickness intended for outdoor use and pay attention to drainage of the base: our advisers will guide you in store.

Installation

A partner pool builder removed the old copings and laid the travertine in about a week, before the pool was refilled in spring.

Copings are laid on top of the pool wall with a slight overhang above the water and a gentle fall away from the pool, so that rainwater does not run back into it. Joints are made with a product compatible with treated pool water.

The result

About 30 metres of copings and 40 m² of deck in a warm shade that matches the house façade.

Like any limestone, this surface benefits from a suitable water-repellent sealer and cleaning with pH-neutral products; acidic cleaners should be avoided.
