Terrace and pool copings in 2 cm concrete-effect outdoor tiles in Saverne

The project

In Saverne, an old concrete terrace was cracked and stained. The owners wanted to cover it without demolishing everything, with a surface that is easy to keep clean under the garden trees. The terrace also surrounds the pool, so the copings had to match the paving perfectly.

The choices

They chose concrete-effect outdoor tiles in 2 cm thickness. Porcelain stoneware needs no sealing and does not stain from leaves or fruit falling from the trees.

The 2 cm thickness also allows laying on adjustable pedestals, directly over the old slab.

The pool copings are made from the same tiles and follow the paving layout, for a continuous surface right up to the edge of the pool.

Installation

The copings were made in our workshop: a drop edge cut and bonded at 45° with epoxy adhesive gives the look of a solid 8 cm coping, although the tile is only 2 cm thick.

Installation was carried out by a local landscaper in about 7 days: the terrace on pedestals, the copings bonded onto the pool edge. The materials were delivered to the house.

The result

About 45 m² of terrace and the pool copings form a continuous whole, redone without demolition. Sweeping and washing with water are enough for day-to-day upkeep.
