Outdoor steps in Silversand granite block steps in Molsheim

The project

In Molsheim, the terrace of a house on a sloping plot was linked to the garden by an old concrete staircase damaged by frost. The owners wanted to replace it with solid steps in a light stone that would match the house render.

The choices

At the Bischheim store, they compared several block steps and chose Silversand granite, a light grey. Block steps are solid pieces: they sit directly on a foundation, with no riser formwork needed.

Granite was chosen for its resistance to frost and wear, which matters for steps used every day.

Installation

Installation was carried out by a local mason on a stepped concrete foundation in about a week. The steps were delivered on a pallet straight to the site.

The result

Seven steps and a small landing now link the terrace to the garden. The light grey of the Silversand stays bright and matches the façade.

For upkeep, cleaning with water and a brush is usually enough.
