Silversand granite pool copings and deck in Pont-à-Mousson
Light grey Silversand granite pool copings and deck in Pont-à-Mousson: about 32 metres of copings and 45 m² of paving.
The project
In Pont-à-Mousson, a couple was having an 8 × 4 m pool built in their garden. They wanted a light-coloured deck that stays fairly cool in the sun and withstands Lorraine frosts.
The choices
They chose Silversand granite copings and Silversand paving for the deck, for a continuous light grey colour.
Silversand granite is a dense, low-porosity stone: it withstands frost, de-icing salt and stains, which makes it a safe choice for outdoor areas exposed to harsh winters. Textured finishes such as flamed keep the surface slip-resistant, even when wet.
The copings can be chosen in the same stone as the paving, for a seamless colour between the pool deck and the pool. Corner pieces, curves or special lengths can be made to measure in our workshop.
Installation
Installation was handled by a partner pool builder, following on from the pool construction, in about two weeks.
Copings are laid on top of the pool wall with a slight overhang above the water and a gentle fall away from the pool, so that rainwater does not run back into it. Joints are made with a product compatible with treated pool water.
For a long-lasting terrace, the paving is laid on a stable, well-drained base with a fall of about 1.5 to 2 % to shed water, using an adhesive and grout designed for outdoor use and natural stone. Our in-store advisers can recommend the right installation products.
The result
About 32 metres of copings and 45 m² of light deck that stays pleasant underfoot in summer.
Granite needs little maintenance: regular cleaning with water, plus a suitable cleaner when needed, is enough in most cases. A water-repellent treatment can reduce soiling.
