Pierre de Jaumont cladding on a wall and façade in Hayange
A boundary wall and façade base clad in Pierre de Jaumont in Hayange: about 25 m² of golden Moselle stone.
The project
The owners of a 1970s house in Hayange wanted to clad their concrete-block boundary wall and the base of the façade in a stone reminiscent of local heritage.
The choices
They chose Pierre de Jaumont cladding, the golden-yellow Moselle limestone found on many buildings in Metz.
Natural stone cladding brings the texture and shades of a stone wall, in a thin format that is bonded to an existing wall. It suits façades, low walls and gate pillars as well as interior walls.
Installation
A local mason laid the cladding in about a week and a half, after repairing the render on the base.
Cladding is bonded from the bottom up to a sound, clean and flat substrate (concrete, block, cement render) with an adhesive suited to outdoor use and natural stone. Where the range includes them, corner pieces give the edges the look of solid stone.
The result
About 25 m² of cladding linking the boundary wall and the house in the same warm stone.
A natural stone clad wall needs no special maintenance; a water-repellent can be applied to faces exposed to rain to limit staining.
